Australian senator, Larissa Waters, has made history after
she became the first politician to breastfeed a baby in the
senate chamber. Larissa, a co-deputy leader for the
Australian Greens party on Tuesday returned to the Senate
for the first time since giving birth to her baby girl, Alia Joy,
earlier this year.
During a vote in the chamber, the 40-year-old proudly took
off her bra and cover her breast with a white towel as she
breastfed her baby girl in public.
Taking to her Facebook page, the excited mother wrote: 'I
am so proud that my daughter Alia is the first baby to be
breastfed in the federal parliament! And we need more
family-friendly and flexible workplaces, and affordable
childcare, for everyone.'
